ABOUT THE COURSE
El Primer Contacto is a course designed to prepare mental health providers for the first contact with their Spanish-Speaking patients. In this course, you will learn key Spanish vocabulary and phrases that will help you navigate the entire screening process, from introductions to scheduling. You will also learn about cultural nuances to better understand and connect with your patients. With engaging, interactive lessons, we’ll break down each step of the initial phone screen, ensuring you walk away with a toolkit designed to prepare you every step of the way.
Recommended proficiency:
At least a lower intermediate level (B1) of Spanish Proficiency is recommended for this course.
Those with a B1 proficiency are able to express themselves on familiar topics related to everyday life. They can understand clear standard speech and are able to communicate in a clear and simple way. They may struggle with grammar, finding the correct words to express themselves, or may have to pause to mentally plan the rest of their sentence.
If you are below a B1 level of proficiency, I recommend that you set up some classes with a tutor to work your way up to B1 before beginning this course.
